Omelcom is working on minimising the environmental footprint of its transportation operations

Concerned about helping to limit global warming and fully involved in the issues linked to the decarbonisation of industry, Omelcom carried out its first Greenhouse Gas emissions report in 2022 and structured a decarbonisation plan for its activities. This action plan is structured around 5 areas of work:

  • Steering/guidance
  • Eco-design
  • Low-carbon purchases
  • Travel
  • Logistics, Freight

As the shipper, we therefore wanted to integrate the FRET21 system of the EVE programme supported by ADEME, to better take into account, the impact of transport in our sustainable development strategy, by benefiting from personalised support from transport experts and access to specific calculations and reporting tools.

The goal is to execute tangible measures focused on decreasing CO2 emissions generated by our logistics operations and to consistently track their impact over time.

We are ambitious!

To foster a more environmentally conscious logistics chain, we’re dedicating our investments to the four key avenues of transport decarbonisation:

AREA 1: Loading rate

Enhance vehicle loading efficiency by stacking pallets and streamlining operations to optimise box arrangements, thereby eliminating unnecessary groupings.

Reduction: 0.52 tonnes CO2e

AREA 2: Distance travelled

Develop direct deliveries from suppliers to our subcontractors without being redirected to the Omelcom head office first

Reduction: 0.20 tonnes CO2e

AREA 3: Means of transport

Minimise the proportion of air import flows by transitioning towards maritime transport methods.

Reduction: 111.34 tonnes CO2e

AREA 4: Responsible purchasing

Make conscientious procurement decisions by expanding the percentage of service providers engaged in CO2 or EVCOM objective systems, promoting sustainability across our supply chain.

Reduction: 0.06 tonnes CO2e
